National Aviation Day – 2026

The First Flight Society is excited to invite you to join us on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026, from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Dare County Regional Airport (MQI) in Manteo, NC, for our annual National Aviation Day Fly-In event. This special day honors the spirit of aviation and commemorates the historic first powered flight by the Wright brothers right here in North Carolina. It’s a perfect opportunity for aviation enthusiasts, families, and the community to come together and celebrate flight.

What to Expect

  • Fly-In for Pilots: The first 30 pilots to fly into the event will receive a $100 fuel voucher as a thank-you for participating. All pilots will also receive a Recognition Certificate.
  • Bullseye Flight Team Flyovers: Experience thrilling aerobatic displays by this talented flight team.
  • Airplane Displays: Explore a variety of aircraft up close and meet the pilots behind the controls.
  • Fun for Kids: Take part in a scavenger hunt designed especially for younger attendees.
  • Guest Speakers: Hear from experts and historians who will share insights about aviation history and current innovations.
  • Food Trucks & Exhibitors: Enjoy delicious food and browse aviation-related exhibits.
  • Free Admission & Parking: There’s no cost to attend, so bring your family and friends!

This year, we are proud to support the Beach Food Pantry through a food drive at the event. We encourage everyone to bring money or food items, especially those your own family enjoys, to help support local families facing tough times. Your donations can make a real difference.
