Join us on August 19th, 2026 as we celebrate National Aviation Day at the Dare County Regional Airport, 410 Airport Road, Manteo, NC 27954, from 10 AM to 3 PM. This special day honors Orville Wright’s birthday and the incredible achievements in aviation that have changed our world.

About National Aviation Day

Established in 1939 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, National Aviation Day commemorates the development of aviation and celebrates the pioneering work of Orville and Wilbur Wright. August 19th was chosen to honor Orville Wright’s birthday and also marks the birthday of Katharine Wright. This day encourages everyone to reflect on the history, achievements, and benefits of aviation—from the Wright brothers’ first flight in 1903 to today’s advanced aircraft and space exploration.
