Wright Route
For the most up to date information on the Wright Route, please check out the Wright Route Website.
Orville and Wilbur Wright changed the course of human history in only 12 seconds, when their flying machine lifted us all from this earth and connected us to the rest of the world like no other technological achievement in human history. The Wrights’ scientific exploration of manned flight set off an explosion of modern engineering technology that continues to change history every second, every minute, every day. The aviation and aerospace industries are significant influences on both the American and global economies; attracting, challenging, and captivating the imaginations of the most brilliant minds of our time.
We believe there are few inventions in history that altered the course of human travel like the Wrights’ discovery of controlled, powered aircraft. It took multiple people, multiple engineering principles, and multiple locations to make this dream of the skies a reality. We are thrilled to announce a new partnership between Ohio “Birthplace of Aviation” and North Carolina “First in Flight.”
The Wright Route is a tourism campaign created by the National Aviation Heritage Area, Outer Banks Forever, First Flight Society, and both Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park and Wright Brothers National Memorial. The campaign encourages visitors to travel to both world-changing aviation centers to experience the national story of aviation’s beginnings. The campaign will feature a landing page, advertising, and a few surprises along the way.
Stay tuned for updates including suggested routes, stop-over ideas, and the perfect sky-high vacation plan.
